Erma ‘Becky’ L. Stamm (1922-2012)

Erma ‘Becky’ L. Stamm, 90 years, of Archbold, passed away late Friday evening, October 26, 2012, at Fulton Manor in Wauseon, Ohio. A lifelong resident of the Archbold area, she operated for over 35 years, along with her husband Kenneth, the A. J. Stamm Insurance Agency.

Erma was born January 11, 1922, in Franklin Township, the daughter of Amanda
(Fether) Bernath and Henry Bernath. On March 18, 1943 she married Kenneth E. Stamm in New York City at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. She is survived by her brother Richard Bernath of Archbold, one daughter; Michele Ann (George) Jelen of Archbold, two sons; Dr. K. Brad (Tami) Stamm of Ada, Michigan, and Alan J. Stamm of Las Vegas, Nevada. Erma is also survived by four grandchildren, Jenny (Kevin) Holsopple, Bethany Joy Jelen, Sara Brittany Stamm, and Ethan J. Stamm, and one great grandchild, Asher J. Holsopple.

Erma was interested in the missions programs of her church and supported many missionaries throughout her years including those involved in ministering to college students. She was a member of the West Franklin Church of Christ as a child and as an adult faithfully attended the Archbold Evangelical Church.

Erma was a graduate of West Unity High School and Davis Business College in Toledo, Ohio. During World War II, while her husband was enlisted in the United States Army, she worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad in San Francisco, California. She also worked in an administrative position for Sealtest Ice Cream in Toledo.


She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth in 2009, her parents, her brothers Eldon Bernath, Glen Bernath, and Calvin Bernath, along with her sisters Dorothy Kunkle and Wilma Archer.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 31, 2012
at the Archbold Evangelical Church, with Pastors Jesse Kahler, Charles Rupp, and Elder Jerry Lugbill, officiating. Interment will precede the Memorial Service at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at the Pettisville Cemetery. Friends may call at the Grisier Funeral Home in Archbold on Tuesday from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to Cherry Street Mission or Miracle Camp. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.grisierfh.com.
