The Fayette Village Council held their meeting on Wednesday, December 8th at 6:00 p.m. The meeting was called to order followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Council first moved to approve the current agenda with the addition of Resolution 2021-06 and the reorganization of the agenda to include an executive session before the second reading of Ordinance 2021-14 is held.
The minutes for the previous meeting that took place on November 17th were then approved followed by approval for the safety committee meeting and the governmental affairs meeting. Recognition of visitors took place next with Tim and Kirsten Dennis present to view the meeting.
The mayor’s report was given next with the mayor stating that the Northwest State Community College is asking for donations to help with scholarships for students.
The administrator’s report was then given. It was stated that there is no written report and that the administrator is working on a few things for the next meeting.
The VFO’s report was then given with it being stated that additions were made to the bill list in order to try and make sure as many bills could be paid as possible before the end of the year.
The addition to the agenda was for the renewal of the indigent defense contract with Fulton County that makes sure someone has an attorney if they are not able to afford one.
Legislative actions will show the change of Nicole Ferguson from Full-Time Police Officer to Part-Time Patrol Officer at a pay rate of $13.20 per hour.
A motion to ratify 2021 license payments is also listed for legislative actions. A motion was then made and approved to pay the bills as presented before moving on to the reading of ordinances and resolutions with the following items being approved.
The First Reading of Resolution 2021-06 regarding authorization for the Village Administrator to enter into and execute and agreement for indigent defense services in county court for 2022 with Fulton County Board of Commissioners. The Second Reading for Resolution 2021-05 to amend the community reinvestment area resolutions for the village.
The Third Reading for Ordinance 2021-12 repealing the existing section 941.01 of the codified ordinances of the Village of Fayette, Ohio and enacting codified ordinance section 941.01 establishing revised water and sewer rates and declaring an emergency.
The Third Reading of Ordinance 2021-13 repealing existing section 303.08 of the codified ordinances and enacting codified ordinance section 303.08 regarding impound, storage, and redemption of impounded vehicles.
Council then voted to enter into executive session to discuss employee compensations at 6:20 p.m. Executive session was then exited at 7:55 p.m. followed by the Second Reading of Ordinance 2021-14.
The Ordinance was in regard to the repealing of Ordinance 2021-01 and the setting of wages, salaries and medical benefits for the employees and officials of The Village of Fayette, Fulton County, Ohio for 2022 and declaring an emergency. The ordinance was passed with amended wage and salary amounts.
The Second Reading for Ordinance 2021-15 was next and was in regard to temporary appropriations for The Village of Fayette, Ohio for the fiscal year of 2022. The ordinance was approved.
Legislative actions then followed with council moving to approve the change of Nicole Ferguson to Part-Time Police Officer at a pay rate of $15.00 per hour.
Council also moved to ratify the 2021 license payments. With no other business pending, council moved to adjourn at 8:03 p.m.
