A Fields of Faith event was held at Biddle Park in Wauseon on the night of Sunday, October 8th. The event began at 7:00 p.m. and continued until 8:30 p.m.
Around 100 students from across ten local schools met on a baseball diamond for a student-led night of prayer and reading of the bible. Worship and gospel singing were also conducted by students during the event.
These local students joined thousands of others on athletic fields across the country. There they each shared in their Christian Faith with their fellow students, during what was the 18th annual Fellowship of Christian Athletes event.
Over 500 locations across the country joined in prayer and worship, made up almost entirely of students from their area’s local schools.
While most Christian events are held by adult speakers or sponsors, FCA’s Fields of Faith is a student-to-student ministry, which means that the students themselves are meeting and organizing the whole event.
Peers invite their own classmates and teammates to meet on their school’s athletic field to hear fellow students share their testimonies, challenge them to read the Bible, and to come to faith in Jesus Christ.
This year adult Huddle leaders and students from multiple schools are working together to make this a special night of praise and worship.
Fields of Faith first began when Jeff Martin, FCA’s Executive Director of Campus Sports Ministry, thought up the idea.
He had longed to help our current generation of students as they face spiritual battles and temptations. In 2004 his vision became a reality when over 6,000 students gathered on school athletic fields across three states for the first event.
The event is also non-denominational and is open to multiple national Christian organizations, local churches, and ministries.
