The commissioners also reviewed the FC Health Department Inspection Report of Fulton County Transfer Facility and the Holiday Closure Notice for Western District Court.
Amy Metz-Simon, Job and Family Director, and T.J. Jones, Assistant Director, gave an update to the Commissioners including a variety of points of information.
Numbers have decreased in child placement and in the money involved for that. They still focus on keeping children in their home or home of a relative. They are following through with all the mandates for child placement as always. ADAMs board has been helping financially and that has been helpful.
Jones also spoke about the illegal use of drugs in the county, letting the commissioners know that they have a number of people in treatment to get off the drugs.
Commissioner Jon Rupp asked about the money that he hears about from the state. Metz-Simon said the county did receive some of that money that is being mentioned on the news.
They all agreed it is a great problem to have more money than they need, but Jones said they are trying to use it wisely and not just spend it because they have it. He also pointed out the problem that if the money is not spent, the government does not allocate as much for the next year and they can come up short.
Metz-Simon spoke about the public assistance saying they are still on the emergency situation so that no one can be taken off Medicaid if they are on it. EDT cards are not being used by people who are doing better and the total on the cards are growing and need to be spent.
They participated at Christmas in the Cabin handing out information to people who might not otherwise come get help.
At 9:45 a report was given by Sheri Rychener, Senior Center Director. The new meal truck should arrive in January. Das Essen Haus program for Seniors ends this month. Food Supply chain issues are affecting them with about 30% of their orders not coming in each time.
Commissioner Joe Short commended them highly for the great job they are doing with the food service for Seniors.
With no further business, the commissioners meeting adjourned for the day.
