Fulton County Safe Communities Kicking Off Drive Sober Or Get Pulled Over Campaign 2015

[Wauseon, OH] – If you drink and drive in Fulton County, beware: Fulton County law enforcement agencies are joining with law enforcement across the county, state and throughout the nation for the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign August 21 through September 7.

Fulton County Safe Communities and local law enforcement agencies will kick off the 2015 Drive Sober Or Get Pulled Over campaign on Saturday, August 22nd at the Swanton Corn Festival at approximately 9:30 am at St. Richards Church. Fulton County Sheriff Roy Miller will be giving a brief statement re: the importance of designating a driver and during the Corn Festival parade the Fulton County Safe Communities coalition will be walking along side the ODOT painted snow plow handing out Drive Sober Or Get Pulled Over magnets as a reminder to not drink and drive not only during the campaign but all year long. “We want to remind everyone that getting behind the wheel drunk is a terrible idea. Unfortunately, not only does drinking impair your ability to operate a vehicle safely, it also impairs your judgment and good sense about whether you can, or should drive. If you have any doubt about your sobriety, do not get behind the wheel. If you do chose to drive impaired, you will be arrested. No warnings. No excuses,” Fulton County Sheriff Roy Miller said.

The effective nationwide drunk driving crackdown will include high-visibility enforcement, high-profile events, and will be supported by national paid advertising, creating a comprehensive campaign to curb drunk driving in August and through the Labor Day holiday weekend.

“Every year, about one third of all motor vehicle traffic deaths involve one or more drunk drivers or motorcycle operators,” said Sheriff Miller. “Alcohol related crashes are one of the leading causes of fatalities in Fulton County.”

“Driving drunk is simply not worth the risk. So don’t take the chance. Remember, we will be out in force and we will be watching, so Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,” stated Fulton County Sheriff Roy Miller.
