Gertrude L. Kaiser, 91 of Camden Michigan died Friday night at Evergreen Manor Nursing Home in Montpelier. She was born on June 11, 1921 in Prattville Michigan to Elmer Glen and Cula Muirl (Van Arsdalen) Kelley. Gertrude attended Montpelier High School. On January 4, 1939 Gertrude married Carmon L. Kaiser in Auburn Indiana, and he survives. They recently celebrated 74 years of marriage.
Gertrude was a nurse’s aide at various places, Masters’ Rest Home in Alvordton Ohio, Blanchard Hospital in Morenci Michigan, Hillsdale Hospital and Williams County General Hospital in Montpelier. She also worked in the advertising department at the Hillsdale Daily News.
Gertrude was a member of the Eagle Creek Garden Club, O. E. S. #41, Scout David Williams N.S.D. A.R. She also enjoyed camping.
She is survived by her husband Carmon, four daughters Gerry Landon of Alvordton Ohio, Kay (Kenneth) Donaldson of Mt. Airy North Carolina, Linda (James) Stanek of Hudson Michigan, and Sharon Robertson of Summerville South Carolina, eleven grandchildren Todd and Chad Landon, Melissa Edwards, Steve and Scott Donaldson, Brenda Pollick, Julie Wetherby, Bruce and Brad Wood, John Robertson, Lorie Blakeley, twelve great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren and one brother Glen Richard and Marlene Kelly of Morenci Michigan.
Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Madeline Mercer and two son in laws Gale Landon and Gordon Robertson.
Visitation hours for Gertrude will be on Monday January 14th from 5 – 9 pm at the Thompson Funeral Home in Pioneer. Services will be on Tuesday at 11 am at the funeral home with Reverend Michael D.
