BOYS BASKETBALL

Delta 44 Pettisville 37

PETTISVILLE – Delta shot a blistering 52% from the floor overall and 56% from three-point range as they started their season with a road win over Pettisville.

The Panthers were topped by 19 points from Bryce Gillen and Bryer Knapp chipped in with 14.

Cayden Jacoby recorded 15 points and seven rebounds for Pettisville and Sean Adkins connected on three treys to finish with 13.

AYERSVILLE – The Pilots (1-0) shook off a slow start to outscore Edon 40-25 in the final three quarters to get the win in the season opener for both teams.

Cohen Hulbert netted 10 points to lead Edon (0-1)

WEST UNITY – Trailing 42-41 after three quarters, Montpelier dominated the final stanza 17-4 to grab a 58-46 win at Hilltop in a non-conference contest.

Garrett Walz was one of three Locos in double figures with 22 while Jamison Grime and Grant Girrell each had 12.

Hilltop was fronted by Aiden Funkhouser with 15 and Anthony Eckenrode added 11 in the loss.

BRYAN – Evan Cox had 12 points and Sam Herold added 10 to lead the Golden Bears past Edgerton 47-44.

While Bryan had six players in the scoring column, the Bulldogs offense came from three players led by Nathan Swank who buried five trifectas to finish with 25 points and Quentin Blue tallied 12.

TOLEDO – Karter Koester nailed a go-ahead triple with 40 seconds remain in the game to lift Toledo Christian (1-0) over Stryker 46-44. Elijah Juillard led the scoring for Stryker (0-1) with 13.

EDON – The Bombers led 23-14 at halftime and then put the game away with a 19-4 third quarter in a 47-27 win over Fayette.

Edon’s Natalie Wofford led all scorers with 23 points on the night while the Eagles were paced by six points from Nevaeh Powers.
