Jacob E. Hite, age 23, of Delta and recently Bellefontaine, OH, passed away from injuries received in an automobile accident in Champaign County, Ohio. Jake was born in Bryan, Ohio on May 24, 1994 to Bruce Hite and Ruth (McCance) Hite.
He attended Four County Vocational School and was a 2013 graduate of Delta High School. Jake went on to graduate from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Plant Genetics. Jake was a dedicated worker for Schmidlin Greenhouse, Wishwell Farms and most recently as an assistant manager for Means Nursery. He was active in Collegiate 4-H and a dedicated member of FFA. Jake enjoyed knife collecting, bowling, farming, being an OSU fan and spending time with his family and girlfriend, Samantha Metz.
He is survived by his father, Bruce (Laurie) Hite; mother Ruth (Bill Wolpert) Hite; sisters, Allianna and Joanne Hite; brother, Daniel Hite; grandparents, Cary (Linda) Hite and James “Ed” McCance; step-grandparents, Dan (Karen) Clevenger; along with many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. Jake was preceded in death by his grandmother, Victoria McCance in 2012.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St. Hwy. 109 in Delta. Funeral services for Jake will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday March 19, 2018 also at the funeral home. Pastor Tim Moebs will be officiating. Interment will follow at Winameg Cemetery.
