James F. Holmes, 73, died Sunday, Aug. 23, 2015, at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.
He was born in Monroeville to Ronald C. and Eva (Balzer) Holmes Sr.
James was a hog farmer and also worked for Terry Industry in Edgerton, Ohio, for 10 years.
He was a Golden member of the Hicksville, Ohio, Eagles and attended activities at the Butler Eagles Lodge.
James married Sandra Moughler on Sept. 15, 1973, in Butler and she survives.
Also surviving is a sister, Hazel Ann Kimmel of Auburn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Ester Holmes and Diane McGee; and three brothers, Ronald Holmes Jr., Robert L. Holmes and Raymond Holmes.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 875 S. Wayne St., Waterloo, with the Rev. Kevin Marsh officiating. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery in Auburn.
Calling will be Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to the Butler United Methodist Church or the DeKalb County Humane Society.
