James (Jim) Richard Myers passed away January 14, 2025, at the age of 89. He was born January 19, 1935, to Lloyd and Doris (Pontius) Myers in Archbold, OH where he lived his entire life.
Jim was a veteran, serving in the Army from 1952-1954, stationed in Turkey and at the Pentagon.
He then owned and worked at Myers Slaughterhouse for many years. He enjoyed playing various horns in multiple bands- American Legion of Genoa, Polish American band, Napoleon city band, Owens Community College band, the Archbold alumni marching band and the Defiance city band, etc. He spent many years of service to the Devil’s Lake Men’s Club including Tip-up.
Jim is survived by a son, Roger (Judy) Myers; a daughter, Holly (Mark) Libke; and 2 grandchildren- Blake and Cole (Maddie) Libke. He is also survived by a sister, Janet Angiulli (Franco) and nephews Tory (Maria) and Brady (Carolina) and a special friend Gloria Buck.
Jim was an avid collector of ALL things. He could reliably supply the neighborhood with tools and hardware. He also spent many hours drinking coffee with the guys.
A memorial service will be held at the American Legion Wauseon OH on Feb 15, 2025 at 12:30pm. In lieu of flowers the family asked that donations be made to the American Legion Band of Genoa.
