James R. Hane

James R. HaneJames R. Hane, 82 years, of Bryan, Ohio, and a former life-long resident of Ney, Ohio, passed away Friday, April 22, 2016 at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice Center, Defiance.  Jim was born June 7, 1933 in Antwerp, Ohio, the son of the late John and Foryst (Connelly) Hane.

An Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, Jim married Shirley E. Ford on July 4, 1959 in Montgomery, Michigan, and she survives.  Jim worked for the ARO Corp. for 40 years, retiring in 1997.  He was the former owner of Hane’s Fashions in Bryan, and Hane’s Fashions and Footwear in Defiance.  He was a member of Sonrise Community Church, Ney, Ohio, Farmer American Legion Post # 137 and Defiance VFW Post 3360.  Jim was a NASCAR fan and a member of the DeSoto Club.

Surviving is his wife, Shirley of Ney; two daughters, Teresa Hane of Irving, Texas and Angela Zach of Bryan; two grandsons, Joshua Blanton of Flint, Michigan and Jacob Blanton of Bryan; three great-grandchildren, Kaidi Blanton, Maycee Blanton and Parker Blanton; one sister, Eloise (Doyle) McBride of Indiana, Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by daughter, Maria Hane; two brothers, John Hane, Jr. and Howard “Bill” Hane and three sisters, Doris Kelley, Lois Baldwin and Elinor Doeden Frappier.

Graveside funeral service for James R. Hane will be held at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 27, 2016 in Evansport Cemetery with his nephew, Pastor Gary Doeden officiating. Military Graveside Honors will be accorded by the Bryan VFW Post 2489.  There will be no visitation.  Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial donations be given to Alzheimer’s Association and Related Disorders.
