Judith Kay Beaverson, age 74, of Delta, surrounded by her loving family; passed away peacefully Monday evening, January 11, 2016 at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. Judy was born in Toledo on October 29, 1941 to the late Donald Graves and Helen (Braithwaite) Graves. Her family lived in Grand Rapids, MI for a few years before moving to Whitehouse, OH; where Judy grew up. She attended Whitehouse Grade School and later the Anthony Wayne High School. On June 13, 1960 she married Ralph Beaverson and together were blessed with 5 children.
Between raising their children, Judy worked at various jobs during her life. She will always be remembered as having a caring nature. Judy was a wonderful caregiver for her elderly mother and cared for her sister, Jane when she was chronically ill. Judy’s love for animals was shown everyday including her own home where she is greatly missed by her four legged companions, “Layla” and “Itsy”. Judy was a fighter and enjoyed life as a fifteen year survivor after having her lung transplant. Nothing gave her more joy than spending quality time with her family and grandchildren.
Along with her husband of 55 years, Ralph; she is survived by her children, Melanie (Lewis Baumgartner) Pickard, James (Sally) Beaverson, Shelly (Dow) Whetstone, Barbara (Robert) Golden and Mollie (Gabriel) Holdridge; brother, Wayne (Noreen) Graves; 12 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Donald, Bob, Tom and Carl Graves and sister, Jane Brown.
Friends and family will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St. Hwy. 109 in Delta. A funeral service celebrating Judy’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday at Beulah United Methodist Church, 11637 Co Rd 10-2 in Delta. Interment will follow at Winameg Cemetery near Delta. Pastor Dan Shilling will be officiating.
