Katherine Lyon, 83, of Montpelier passed away early Monday morning at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers in Montpelier. She was born on June 8, 1930 in Montpelier to Harry and Eloise (Six) Cleveland. During high school she played the marimba in the band and competed at the state level. Katherine graduated from Montpelier High School in 1948. She attended Bowling Green extension in Bryan, a professional Secretary College. She married Don E. Lyon on January 14, 1948 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Montpelier and he survives.
She was a former member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. Katherine retired as a cost accountant from Robinair in 1988. She also worked as a secretary at Dean’s Insurance and as a secretary to the principal at the Montpelier grade school. Katherine was an artist, she loved to design interiors, and especially enjoyed the contemporary style. She loved to shop and buy gifts for her family and friends.
Katherine is survived by her husband Don; daughter KayC (Burt) DiTommaso of Hicksville; son Don E. Lyon, II of Manassas, Virginia; seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
Katherine was preceded in death by her parents.
