
Kay Evelyn (Jerger) Knowles, 71, of Fort Wayne, IN passed away on May 23, 2019 after a long battle with cancer.
She was born on May 16, 1948 in Wauseon, OH to John W. and Evelyn J. (Davis) Jerger. Kay graduated from Montpelier High School in 1966 and graduated from the nursing program at Purdue University in 1970. She loved being a nurse, was registered to practice in Indiana, California, Florida, and Nevada, and provided care and comfort to many throughout the years including Nathan Adelson Hospice in Las Vegas, NV.
Kay is survived by her loving husband William E. Knowles of Ft. Wayne, IN; 3 children Kimberly (Darren) Ericson of Bowling Green, KY, Dawn (Christopher) Proctor of Philadelphia, PA, and Kyle (Jennifer) Miller of Silver Lake, IN; 2 sisters Lori Schultz of Defiance, OH, and Jan (Garry) Stevens of Dallas, TX; 2 step-children Steve (Karen) Knowles of Minot, ND, and Michael Knowles of San Antonio, TX; 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Evelyn Jerger, and brother, James Jerger.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 22 at The Thompson Funeral Home, 204 East Main Street, Montpelier, OH with a time to receive friends and family from 12 – until the time of the service.
