Leota W. (Wolf) Crawford, 88, West Unity, died August 22nd at Brookview Healthcare Center in Defiance. She was the daughter of Theodore H. and Emma W. (Birkhahn) Wolf, born on May 7th 1924 in Defiance, Ohio. Leota graduated with the class of 1942 at Defiance High School. After high school she went to Maumee Valley School of Nursing in Toledo, Ohio and obtained an R.N. degree in nursing in 1945.
After graduation she worked at the Defiance Hospital for a brief time. She moved to the West Unity area and worked at one time for the Cameron Hospital in Bryan, Montpelier Hospital, the Medical College Hospital in Toledo, and various nursing homes in the surrounding area. Leota retired from the nursing profession with over 51 years of practice in 1993.
She attended St. James Lutheran Church of Burlington, Ohio.
Leota was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Bernard Wolf, a sister Hildah Ludwig, and two very special friends Roy and David.
At the request of Leota no services are being held. A private graveside service was held at St. James Lutheran Cemetery near Archbold with Rev. Strawn officiating. Memorials in memory of Leota may be made to the Donor’s Choice. The Wilson-Geesey Funeral Home in Montpelier has been entrusted with Leota’s arrangements.
