LeRoy E. “Rick” Mock, 76 years, of Bryan, passed away Sunday, September 23, 2018 at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers Emergency Room, Bryan.

Rick was born January 17, 1942 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the son of the late Denver Earl and Stella (Parker) Mock I.  He was a 1961 graduate of Hicksville High School.  He married Judith A. Tretter on December 23, 1961 in Mark Center, Ohio, and she survives.

Rick began his career working for the Village of Stryker.  He then began working for the City of Bryan as a Police Officer, working his way up to the position of Chief of Police where he served for 8 years, retiring in 1996 after 30 years of service.  After his retirement, Rick assisted at Oberlin-Ford Funeral Home and sold monuments for Merit Monument Company until the monument company closed.  Rick was affiliated with the Bryan Church of the Nazarene.  Rick loved to travel. He and Judy had visited 48 lower States missing only Hawaii and Alaska.  Rick treasured the time he could spend with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren making memories.

Surviving is his wife, Judith of Bryan; three children, Rick (Cheryl) Mock of Bryan, Gary (Cheryl) Mock of Bryan and Amy (Jim) Gilmore of Enon, Ohio; six grandchildren, Chasity (Ben) Lee of Montpelier, Jessica (David) Finn of Panama City Beach, Florida, Danielle Lee of Montpelier, Rosemary Nicolen of Fresno, California, Bronson (Leslie) Mock of Bryan and A.J. (Amy) Mock of Louisville, Kentucky; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Joan Bauer, Virginia Mitchell and Faith (Bob) Sitton all of Hicksville.  He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Bonnie Conley and two brothers, William Mock and Denver Earl Mock II.

There will be no visitation and services will be private for the family at a later date.  Interment will take place in Fountain Grove Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home-Lynn Street, Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation of Northwest Ohio, 150 West South Boundary, P.O. Box 202, Perrysburg, Ohio 43551, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
