ALVORDTON, OH – Rose Mary Pontious, 85 of Alvordton, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, January 16, 2025, surrounded by family members.
She was born September 17, 1939 to Joseph and Rose Repka. Rose Mary married James Eisel on November 16,1957 and later married James Pontious on June 7, 1980.
She treasured her life as a homemaker and a mother. As her children grew she worked in accounting and bookkeeping for Leininger Home Supply, Mendellson Egg Company and AirMate prior to her retirement.
She attended Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Fayette, Ohio and was a very active parishioner. Rose Mary enjoyed music, sewing and crafts, ceramics, water aerobics and making rugs.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her family playing cards, games/puzzles, putting up sweet corn, making noodles, camping or just visiting.
Rose Mary is survived by six children, Ron (Pat) Eisel, Jim (Pam) Eisel, Bob (Bobbie) Eisel, Sandra (George) Gagle, Randy (Becky) Eisel, and Scott (Michelle) Eisel; son-in-law Bob Momyer; sister, Betty Upell; 24 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands James Eisel and James Pontious; and daughter, Mary Jane Momyer.
The family will receive friends for visitation at the Eagle-Marry Funeral Home in Fayette, on Monday, January 20, 2025, beginning at 3:00 p.m. and concluding with a Vigil Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. A funeral mass for Rose Mary will be celebrated by Father Bill Pifher on Tuesday, January 21, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Fayette. Rite of Committal will take place privately at Our Lady of Fatima Cemetery near Lyons.
Memorial contributions can be made in Rose Mary’s honor to benefit Our Lady of Mercy Church or the Crisis Pregnancy Centers of Northwest Ohio.
