Marian J. Wasnich Klinger (1926-2013)

Marian Wasnich Klingler 001Marian J. Wasnich Klingler, 87 years, formerly of West Unity, passed away Saturday evening, October 26, 2013 at Hillside Country Living, where she had been a resident.  Marian was born August 11, 1926 in Montpelier, the daughter of the late Harold J. and Lola Faye (Martin) Eberly.  She was a 1944 graduate of Montpelier High School and a 1947 graduate of Flower Hospital School of Nursing.  She was a veteran of the United States Cadet Nursing Corp.  She married Olen L. “Bud” Wasnich on June 15, 1947, and he preceded her in death on June 2, 1996.  Marian then married Howard W. Klingler on January 9, 1999, and he also preceded her in death on January 9, 2011.  Marian was an RN at Williams County General Hospital and Hillside Nursing Home.   Marian was a member of the West Unity First Presbyterian Church where she had served as an Elder and she held offices in the United Presbyterian Women.  She was also a charter member of the CBS Study Club and the Montpelier Hospital Auxiliary.

Surviving are her son, Kenneth (Nancy) Wasnich of Archbold; three daughters, Judith Burns of Bullhead City, Arizona, Mary (Ronald) McCrea of West Unity and Wendy Wasnich (Javier Garcia) of Ashland, Ohio; one foster son, William (Ruth) Whitten of Wauseon, Ohio;  three stepdaughters, Annette (Stewart) Pequinot of Mahomet, Illinois, Sandra (Greg) Cooper of Tucson, Arizona and Nancy (Mike) Rupp of Phoenix, Arizona; 10 grandchildren Bill Wasnich, Jeff Wasnich, Kelly Wasnich, Kim Wasnich, Jeri Swanson, Ryan McCrea, Robin Koch, Josie Dickey, Felipe Garcia-Wasnich and Nina Garcia-Wasnich; seven great-grandchildren,  10 step grandchildren,  Patricia Larkin, Randall Pequinot, Christopher Pequinot, Ryan Rupp, Colin Rupp, Christopher Rupp, Steve Cooper, Jeremy Cooper, Brian Cooper and Heather Towne ;  11 step great-grandchildren; one sister, Shirley (Ron) Piddock of Bryan; one sister-in-law, Lee Eberly of Bryan and one step-sister-in-law, Margaret Manley.  She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Bud and Howard, sons-in-law, Jack Bostick and Robert Burns, stepdaughter, Sally Klingler,  two brothers, Robert Eberly and Bill Brown, one sister, June Huston.

Visitation for Marian J. Wasnich Klingler will be held on Friday, November 8, 2013 from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 202 North Liberty Street, West Unity.  Graveside interment services will be held at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Floral Grove Cemetery, County Road K, West Unity.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 9, 2013 in the West Unity First Presbyterian Church, 201 East North Street, West Unity with Rev. Thomas Steensma officiating.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial tributes to the West Unity Food Pantry.
