Marilyn Kay Schrock, 76 years, of West Unity, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2016 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo. Marilyn was born May 10, 1939 in Wauseon, Ohio, the daughter of the late John and Myrtle (Bowers) Renz. She was a 1957 graduate of Wauseon High School. She married Weston Schrock on October 25, 1959, and he survives.
Marilyn began her working career at Sheridan’s, working in the factory. She also worked in the Millcreek-West Unity School System and at Superior Carbon in West Unity and also at Slagle’s. She was an active member at the West Unity United Methodist Church where she participated in many committees and groups, including the preparing the Wednesday evening meals, singing in the choir and the activities of the United Methodist Women. Marilyn was known as a caring and thoughtful individual shown by the loving deeds she extended to others, such as sending cards to those hurting or celebrating milestones in life, and visiting those in nursing homes. She also enjoyed watching birds at her bird feeder, and animals in nature, music and tending to her flowers.
Surviving is her husband, Weston of West Unity; two children, Mervin (Laura) Schrock of Findlay, Ohio and Nedra (Daniel) Fleming of Bryan; four grandchildren, Benjamin Schrock of Greensboro, North Carolina, Bethany Schrock of Findlay, Ohio, Ross Fleming of West Unity and Bailey Fleming of Bryan. She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Matthew Schrock.
Visitation for Marilyn Kay Schrock will be held from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday, April 3, 2016 in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 202 North Liberty Street, West Unity. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday April 4, 2016 at the West Unity United Methodist Church, 311 North Liberty Street, West Unity, with Pastors Greg Coleman and Jim Nathan officiating. Private graveside committal services will take place in Lockport Cemetery. The family will also receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
