Mary E. Makula, age 89, of Delta, peacefully passed away early Tuesday morning, May 19, 2015 at Fulton Manor in Wauseon. She was born in Jackson, KY on June 22, 1925 to the late Sam Carpenter and Sara (Haynes) Carpenter. She was united in marriage to the late Lucian Lewis Makula and together were blessed with three sons.
Before retiring and being a homemaker, Mary worked as a bakery decorator. She was an active member of Shiloh Christian Union Church in Delta. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her sons, Ray, Lewis “Lew”, and Larry Makula.
Left to cherish her memory are her sister, Lula May “Cricket” Wireman; grandchildren, Lora (Charlie) Paine, Scotty Makula, Rebecca (Tim) Roller, Michelle Makula, Larry (Megan) Makula and Megan Makula; great grandchildren, Tyler Makula, Alyscia Northrup, Dustin Roller, Autumn Roller and Bella Makula and great great grandchildren, Abbygail, Sophia, Damon and Lucian.
Friends and family will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St Hwy 109 in Delta. A funeral service celebrating Mary’s life will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday also at the funeral home. Pastor Chuck Whitmire will be officiating. Interment will be at a later date at Swanton Cemetery.
