Maurice D. Boetz, age 87, of Stryker, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at the Community Hospitals and Wellness Center – Bryan. Prior to his retirement in 1985 he had worked in construction for Baker and Schindler for 30 years. After retirement he worked for Planson’s Farms in Stryker and also as a security guard for Sauder’s in Archbold.
Maurice was born in Evansport, on June 18, 1927, the son of Augusta and Germaine Boetz. On August 28, 1971 he married Doris Wilcox, and she survives. He was an Army Veteran of WWII, having served in the Panama Canal. He was a lifetime member of the Defiance VFW. He enjoyed landscaping, mowing his yard, and taking care of his beloved wife. He also enjoyed his dog, Muffy, his cats, and watching old time Westerns.
Surviving, besides his wife, Doris are his children, Daniel (Pam) Boetz of Stryker, Diane (Matthew) Gloor of Napoleon, David (Deb) Boetz of Bryan and Doty Schmidt of Bryan; two step-sons, Anthony (Meta) Fitzenrider of Bryan and Timothy Fitzenrider of Napoleon. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and sister, Madeline Hall of Defiance. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Dorenne Boetz and Donna King; brother, George Boetz; and step-son, Tom Fitzenrider.
