The Metamora Chamber of Commerce held their annual Swiss Steak Dinner this past week. The event was held on Wednesday, January 15th, with networking starting at 5:00 p.m. along with the opening of the bar. From 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. dinner was served, followed by a special guest speaker, Matt Gilroy.

The event follows yet another year of success by the Chamber, which now has around 70 members following its existence only four years ago.

Chamber Trustee Jeff Truckor explained that the small community has never had anything like this before and that it has been amazing and has taken off.

“Everything has been working really well. We went from the first couple of years of just the trustees’ running things to now having a full board.”

“With events like these, we get to sit and talk with people we don’t normally talk to. Networking today is a very big deal I feel. You get talking and share different ideas. It helps to make sure we stay a community and work with each other,” said Truckor.

During the event, over 60 people came to enjoy both the good food and the company of others. The meal this year was made by the Country Charm Café, with numerous individuals stating how good the meal was.

It is the Chamber’s hope that the meal can be conducted by one business one year, and move onto another one the next year, to ensure multiple members are able to get a piece of it.

During the dinner, members present were informed of various chamber business, including changes to the meeting schedule for the year and the fact that food will now be served during the meetings.

Following the meeting, Fulton County Economic Development Corporation Director Matt Gilroy gave a presentation to each of the members present.

Gilroy spoke about what the organization does, what it has to offer to businesses, and some information about the future.

Gilroy was also asked to take some time to explain a little bit about himself, with Gilroy stating the county is a great place to live.
