A new Metamora business is bringing barber services, hair styling, nail care, and clean beauty together inside a rustic space designed to reflect both local history and community pride.
The Wagon Wheel Barber, Nail, and Style Salon recently celebrated its ribbon cutting at 239 Maple Street, marking the opening of a project that has been years in the making for Cheryl Robison and Jeffery Truckor.

The business also held an open house afterward, giving visitors a chance to tour the space, meet the professionals, and see the completed renovations.
Cheryl said the idea began about six years ago after the local barber retired. She and Jeff wanted to bring a barber option back to town while also creating a business that offered hair and nail services under one roof.
The project later moved forward after the couple received a facade grant, a process Cheryl said took about three and a half years to complete.
“We wanted to offer a full-service salon, more than just a place where you can come and get your nails done and a haircut,” Cheryl said. “We wanted an experience.”
That experience is reflected throughout the salon, from the old-fashioned barber chairs to the wood accents, black finishes, and handmade shelving completed by Jeff.
He said the goal was to create a rustic, farm-inspired look that fit the name of the business and the character of Metamora.
The building also carries local history, having once housed the Metamora Record newspaper.
The hardwood floors were sanded and refinished, while still preserving signs of where printing press equipment once sat.
The owners also included photographs connected to the building’s past and previous Metamora barbers.
The Wagon Wheel includes independent professionals offering a variety of services, including hair styling, men’s grooming, and specialty manicures and pedicures.
Traditional men’s grooming services, including hot shaves and straight razor work, are also part of the business.

Cheryl said one of the main focuses is clean beauty. The salon carries clean, high-quality products, including hair and body care, skincare, men’s organic grooming products, beard care, specialty colognes, and locally made organic items.

She said the goal is to offer more than a standard salon visit by creating an atmosphere centered on care, comfort, confidence, and personal service.
Jeff said the opening is also part of a larger hope to help bring activity back to Metamora, noting that the village is beginning to see new business opportunities and renewed community support.
The professionals at The Wagon Wheel are independent contractors and set their own schedules.
Customers are encouraged to follow the business on Facebook for contact information, appointment availability, and updates.
