Pastor William Gregg “Peach” Kerr, age 71, of Wauseon, passed away Monday morning, October 23, 2023 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg.
Pastor Kerr has been the pastor of the Wauseon Congregational United Church Christ for the past 12 years.
He had also worked in Agri-business, having worked as a sales representative for Grace Chemical Company, Zehr and Company of Pettisville, Haviland Chemical Company, Terra Chemical Company, and McConnell Ag. He also worked for the Gerald Ag Center, then became its owner.
He was born in Sandusky, Ohio on January 29, 1952, the son of Robert G. (Jeff) Kerr and Marcia J. (Guilford) Kerr. On July 21, 1973 he married Sandra “Sandy” Koniezhny, and she survives.
He was a 1970 graduate of Wauseon High School, attended The Ohio State University, and was a member of the All-Ohio State Fair Youth Choir.
He was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan and a Detroit Lions and Detroit Tigers fan. His favorite thing was driving the tractor at the farm!
“Peach” William was a member of the former Wauseon Elks, which merged with Maumee and Bowling Green, where he had been the Exalted Ruler three times.
He was very active in the Masonic organizations, including the Grand Lodge F & AM of Ohio, Wauseon Chapter #349, Wauseon Chapter #111, Wauseon Council #68 where he was a Past Illustrious Master, Bryan Commandry #74, Bryan Council #101 where he had served as a Past Illustrious Master, KYCH Ohio Priory #18, Hicksville Chapter #188, Knight Masons, Angola Preceptory #12 Yoeman of the York, Northwest Chapter #45 where he was a Past High Priest, Zenobia Shrine, Scottish Rite Valley of Toledo, High 12 #535, Fulton Chapter #67 of the Eastern Star, Blackstone York Rite College #195, Friendly Social Club of the Wauseon Masons, 1st Arch Inspector Council of Royal and Select Masons, and was currently working towards membership of the Royal Scofield Society.
Surviving besides his wife, Sandy, are children, Elizabeth Ann (Trent) Yoder of Archbold, Robert John (Ellen) Kerr of Pickerington, Ohio, Erin Michelle (Alex) Brzezinski of Rawson, Ohio; grandchildren, Paige, Macie, Hayden, Isaac, Vivian, Caroline, Elise, Halle, and Xander; great-grandchildren, Harrison, Charlotte, Tresyn and Alayna. He is also survived by three brothers, Jack (Claudia) Kerr of Hawaii, James (Joni) Kerr of Wauseon, Bob (Sharon) Kerr of Shirley, Massachusetts; and special friends, Dan Weber, Tim Boyers and Sharon Moore.
He was preceded in death by both parents; grandmother, Helen Guilford and grandson, Camron Merillat.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 29, 2023 at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Wauseon, where Masonic Services will be held at 6:30 P.M. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 30, 2023, also at the church, with Pastors Richard Beck and David Bowman, officiating. Interment will follow in the Wauseon Union Cemetery.
The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the Congregational United Church of Christ, Hospice of Northwest Ohio, or to the Fulton County Humane Center.
