Pettisville Blackbirds Crush Hilltop Cadets On The Road 15-2

WEST UNITY: MAY  1, 2014– Pettisville took to the road on May 1 for a BBC clash with the Hilltop Cadets on the Cadets home diamond, walking off with a 5th inning shutdown 15-2.

Christian Barhite earned the win on the mound for Pettisville on a day when the wind was a heavy factor, allowing just 4 hits and 2 runs on the afternoon.  Barhite also sat down 7 batters in the victory.

Offensively for the Blackbirds, Tate Kauffman had a huge day at the plate, scoring 3 runs on the day and driving in 3 RBI’s off a triple.  Logan and Dustin Nofzinger each connected for doubles in the game while Nate Hartzler had 2 hits with 2 RBI’s.  Eli King also powered in 1 RBI on the victory for Pettisville.

In the loss for Hilltop, Logan Brooker took the setback, allowing 4 hits and 8 earned runs in just 2 and 2/3’s innings of work. Brooker also gave up 7 base on balls in the loss.  Also seeing work on the mound, Justin Grapengeter and Ryan Brooker closed the game out, allowing 6 runs and retiring after 5 to end the game.

Offensively in the loss, Chad Champion connected for a solo home run in the game, while Grapengeter, Nic Schieber and Zach Roehrs each connected for hits in the Cadets loss.
