PizzAroma in Swanton celebrated new ownership with a ribbon cutting held by the Swanton Area Chamber of Commerce.
The celebration took place at the restaurant, located at 133 E. Airport Highway, with new owners Michelle and Chad Doyle marking their first several months with the Swanton location.
Michelle Doyle said she and her husband purchased PizzAroma at the beginning of the year and are now about five months into ownership of the business. The Doyles also own the PizzAroma locations in Maumee and Holland.
“We love the pizza, so we decided to purchase the business,” Doyle said. Doyle continued, explaining that the business is keeping the basic recipes for its sauce and dough, though some changes may come later.
Those could include updates to ingredients, fresher items, different toppings and specialty pizzas.
While pizza remains the main draw, Doyle said she also wants customers to know about other items on the menu, including subs, wings and salads. “We have amazing subs and salads,” Doyle said, adding that the chef salad, taco salad, Philly sub, pizza sub and chicken club are among the popular options.
Doyle said customers often think only of pizza when they hear the PizzAroma name, but the restaurant also offers healthier options and other menu items that can sometimes be overlooked.
Before purchasing the business, Doyle worked for the Toledo Zoo for 25 years in food service. She said buying PizzAroma was a way to step into something new and build something for her family.
Doyle said the Swanton community has been supportive since the ownership change, and the chamber has been great to work with. “We’re excited to be in the Swanton community,” Doyle said. “We want to support the community.”
As the Doyles continue settling into the Swanton location, Doyle said they hope residents will stop in, meet the new owners and try some of the menu items beyond pizza.
