GRANT AWARDED … The Power in the Purse (PIP) women’s giving circle, affiliated with the Bryan Area Foundation, voted at their January quarterly meeting to award the Special Olympics of Williams County a $5,525 check. The funds will stay in the county and assist the local nonprofit with the 98 athletes competing in various sports, like basketball, track, and bowling. There is no charge for competitors between the ages of 8-74 to learn or play a sport, and the PIP monies will help ensure this programming continues for all participants. Pictured during the check presentation are from left to right PIP member Kim Miller, Williams County Board of Developmental Disabilities Superintendent Andrea Hammond, Special Olympics of Williams County Local Coordinator Angela Luke, Special Olympics of Williams County mascot Sharky, PIP Publicity Director Karin Bowers, and Special Olympics of Williams County Assistant Coordinator and Coach Beth Votaw. Since 2016, PIP has donated more than $235,000 to 44 nonprofit projects in Northwest Ohio. If you want to make a difference in our community, please join us Monday, April 28, for our next meeting.
