Are you a fitness enthusiast? Is running or walking part of your daily routine? Then mark your calendar now for the ninth annual Robin B. Spangler Memorial 5K set for Saturday, May 23, 2015 (Memorial Day Weekend) beginning at 9:00 a.m. at Leanne Field (Edon High School track and football complex) on Irene Drive.
Registration is currently underway with application forms and fifteen dollar fee ~ which includes tee shirt ~ due on or before Friday, May 15. (Please make checks payable to RBS Memorial Scholarship.) Walk-ins are definitely welcomed to register prior to the start of the 5K; however, availability of event tee shirts may be limited. Race day 5K Run/Walk Age divisions will once again include ~ Under age 12; Ages 12-18; Ages 19-25; Ages 26-35; Ages 36-50 and Age 50 and older. Entrants may park at the track or at the Edon Community Building parking lot located nearby on Parkway Street (off North Michigan Street/State Route 49). Refreshments, including Gatorade, water, fruit, etc., will be provided for participants following the race.
Money raised from the RBS Memorial 5K benefits the Robin Bass Spangler Scholarship Fund that annually awards scholarships to seniors who best exemplify Robin. Mrs. Spangler, longtime English teacher at Edon High School, kept very active throughout her life by walking, swimming and exercising nearly every day. This event honors her commitment to both fitness and education.
