Stacy Lee Vereecke, age 46, of Archbold, passed away December 17, 2012, at the Defiance Hospice Center after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
He was born on May 27, 1966, to Richard and Sonja (Randall) Vereecke, in Wauseon, Ohio. He married his high school sweetheart, Buffie Slattman, on May 24, 1986. He served his country in the United States Army Special Forces for seven years as a chemical specialist and served in the Persian Gulf War. A graduate of Gorham Fayette High School, he worked at Wauseon Machine and then at Sauder Woodworking.
He was a member of Archbold Evangelical Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. Stacy was a loving father of two children. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his loving wife, Buffie; daughter, Marissa (Ben) Bresson, Wisconsin; son, Brett Vereecke, Archbold; parents, Richard (Pauline) Vereecke, Wauseon and Sonja (Bob) Morrison, Fayette; father-in-law, Albert (Linda) Slattman Sr., Tennessee; mother-in-law, Patricia (Joseph) Snider, Wauseon; brother, Richard (Rhonda) Vereecke, Wauseon; sisters, Sherri (Tim) Wagler, Archbold, and Tracy (David) Knisely, Fayette; brother-in-law, Albert (Christine) Slattman Jr., Florida; grandmother, Martha Randall, Fayette; grandmother-in-law, Josephine Slattman, West Unity.
A memorial service will be held on Friday at 11 AM at the Archbold Evangelical Church with Pastor Jesse Kahler and Elders Jerry Lugbill and John Wilson officiating. Interment will precede at 9 AM in the East Monroe Cemetery, near Continental. Friends may call in the Fireside Room of the church from 2-8 PM on Thursday.
