Virginia M. Johnson, age 92, of Delta, peacefully passed away at her home early Saturday morning, August 1, 2015. Welcoming her at her heavenly home were her parents, husband and sons. She was born in Wauseon on February 4, 1923 to Willard Trowbridge and Eva (Pittman) Trowbridge. She was a graduate of Delta High School in 1941. Virginia married Robert A. Johnson on July 25, 1942 and together were blessed with four children, Patricia A., Susan V., Robert S., and John E. Johnson.
When she was not a homemaker and helping on the family farm, Virginia worked area jobs including Fulton Manufacturing, being a bookkeeper for the Delta Livestock Auction, and in the bakery at Publix Bakery in Florida. Virginia was a lifelong member of Zion United Methodist Church; where she was very active. Some of her fondest enjoyments were Square Dancing with her husband and gardening.
Virginia is survived by her daughters, Patricia (Dr. Michael) Suckley of Fenton, MI and Susan (Thomas) Minch of Scottsmoor, FL; brother, John (Betty) Trowbridge of Delta; 9 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A.; sons, John E. and infant Robert S.; brother, Kenneth Trowbridge and sister, Pauline Lichtenwald.
Visitation for Virginia will be held from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at Zion United Methodist Church, 4533 Co Rd 11 in Wauseon; where a memorial service celebrating her life will begin at 11:00 AM on Wednesday. Interment will be private for the family at Zion Cemetery prior to the service. Pastors Don Krieger and Alan Weese will be officiating.
