The West Unity Board of Zoning Appeals met on Wednesday, September 17, in the village hall.
Committee members in attendance were Tim Scherer, Nathan Brown, Steven Riley, and Chairman Rich Merillat, along with Mayor Don Leu, Village Administrator Josh Fritsch, and Deputy Clerk Aubrey Jennings, while Bob Boldman was absent from the meeting.
The only item on the agenda was a discussion requesting a Conditional Use Permit for a dwelling located on 107 North Main Street, West Unity, presented by Todd Roth.
The location is going to become a VRBO (Vacation Rentals by Owner), with all bookings and check-outs to take place online. There will not be an attendant on site like a motel.
Roth stated that he felt he met all the criteria for the permit.
Riley then asked Roth about the intended length of stay. Roth explained that short stays were the goal, rather than seeking a long-term stay.
Roth noted that parking is available out front, but Fritsch advised him that those parking spots are included in the snow removal district.
Regarding parking space for the dwelling, it was mentioned that there are parking spots available out back in an area that Roth plans to stone. However, the dumpsters need to be relocated.
A motion was then made by Riley and seconded by Scherer to approve the Conditional Use Permit for the dwelling, which is going to be named Millcreek Lodge on Main.
