The Williams County Fair Board met on Thursday, September 19th at 7 pm. President Pam Goll, Vice President Tom Fry, Secretary Katie Winebernner, committee Dave Page, and Tobi Fenicle were in attendance.

Eight directors and five auxiliaries were present with Heather Mercer absent. A few members of the community were also present.

The meeting was called to order by President Pam Goll after the Pledge of Allegiance and roll call. No requests from the floor. The previous meeting minutes were approved from the August 2024 regular board meeting.

The treasurer’s report was also read and approved with mention of grant money that still needed to be transferred into savings.

Discussion began on how the fair went this year. For admissions sales were up on season passes. The rodeo day ended up bringing in the most amount of money on the first Saturday of the fair where cash at the gates was up by $1,000.

Admissions were lower for Sunday and the Demolition derby. Poor Jack Amusement rides were up $4,000 so more guests were riding rides this year.

Next up was to lock in dates for 2025 with the fair being scheduled for September 6th-13th 2025. Early bird booking will also be put in for the rodeo for the opening Saturday of the fair. The KOI drag race date is tentatively set for September 13th, 2025.

The committee reports new ticket paper and receipt paper need ordered. Some complaints voiced about the fair included no rides on Veterans Day and the goat barns were extremely dusty despite watering them down.

It was also mentioned that some of the buildings need repairs and updates and gates added to different areas. The board approved the motion to get quotes on new fencing for the grandstand and north end at the end of the Bridge.

For new business, Pam Goll asked the board if anyone had any recommendations for Outstanding Fair Supporter that need to be submitted by November 1st. Awards at the convention, hall of fame, and communication awards that need to be submitted by October 20th.

For announcements the OFMA Convention is January 2nd-5th 2025 and the next district meeting will be November 10th at 1 pm at the Ottawa County Fair Grounds in Oak Harbor, Ohio. The meeting adjourned at 8:05 pm.

The next regular board meeting will be held on October 17th at 7 pm.
