Robert D HicksRobert D. Hicks, Jr., age 66, of Stryker, passed away early Tuesday morning, May 5, 2015 at the Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center. Prior to his retirement, he had been a banker with the former Tiffin Valley Bank and the former First National Bank, in Archbold.

Robert was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio, on January 28, 1949, the son of Robert D. and Ella Mae (Hall) Hicks, Sr. He was a Air Force Veteran of the Viet Nam War. He was a member of the B.L.W. American Legion Post 311, in Archbold. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed coaching American Legion Baseball, golf, bowling, and was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan. He also enjoyed karaoke.

Surviving are his children, Kelly (Todd) Thompson of Archbold, Ryan (Alicia) Hicks of Stryker, Mandy (Sam) Dickinson of Stryker; and five grandchildren, Adriana, Gabriella, Evan, Lila and Corbin. He is also survived by three sisters, Willena McTee of Abbeville, LA, Carolyn Pietrzak of Toledo, Michelle Baker of Chapmansboro, TN; and former wife, Arlene Hicks, of Archbold. He was preceded in death by both parents and one brother, Wayne Hicks.

Visitation for Robert will be held from 11:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. on Friday, May 8, 2015 at the Grisier Funeral Home in Archbold, where funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00 P.M., with Pastor Donna Stutzman, officiating. Military Rites will be accorded by the Archbold American Legion Post.

The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the Archbold American Legion. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.grisierfh.com
