Dorothy Harpring (1936 -2024)

Dorothy Ann Harpring, age 87, formerly of Delta, passed away in the early hours on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 with her loving family by her side.

She was born on December 28, 1936 to Adolf and Regina (Wyant) Meyer in Ft. Jennings, Ohio. Dorothy married the love of her life, Ira F. Harpring on February 16, 1957 in Bellefontaine, Ohio in St. Patrick Catholic Church.

Dorothy took great pride in volunteering with different agencies within the community. She volunteered at Hands of Grace in Delta, was a patient escort at Fulton County Health Center and instructor with Golden Retrievers Fitness Class at Fulton County Senior Center.


Dorothy was a longtime member of St. Caspar Parish and was part of the Rosary Altar Society. She loved crafting, flower arranging and needlecraft and was a member of the National Needlecraft Guild. Her family will always remember her for her humor and vigor.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Carl; brothers, George, Leonard and Frank; sisters, Ruth Stuber and Eleanor Heitmeyer. She is survived by her children, Barbara Pietrzak, Kathleen (Bill) Whitney, Grace (Carey) Phillips, Rita Chamberlin (Bill Hann) and Paul (Rita) Harpring; grandchildren, Renae Pietrzak, Nathan Pietrzak, Tina (Eric) Badik and Theodore (Norah) Pietrzak; David (Kyle) Whitney and Matthew Whitney;  Zachary (Alyssa) Chamberlin; Parker Phillips (Lacie Marshall) and Peyton Phillips; Joshua (Samantha) Harpring, Kaylene (Jerred) Peabody and Rudi Birkner; great-grandchildren, Corra, Baylee, Grayson, Emma, Rhetton and Olivia; brother, Alphonse Meyer; sister, Darlene O’Brien and sister-in-law, Becky Meyer.

The family will receive guests on Monday, February 19, 2024 from 2-8:00 p.m. at Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home, 219 S. Fulton St., Wauseon, Ohio with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. The family will also receive guests on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 from 10-11:00 a.m. at St. Caspar Parish, 1205 N. Shoop Ave., Wauseon, Ohio with her Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. in the church, Rev. Todd Dominique officiating. Interment will follow in St. Caspar Parish Cemetery.
