Clarence Hartley (1943 – 2024)

Clarence M. Hartley, age 81, of Edgerton and a resident of Conway, SC, peacefully passed away at home on Saturday, July 13, 2024.

Mr. Hartley joined the United States Air Force at the age of 18 and served 8 years, receiving the Air Medal for flying missions into Vietnam combat zones during the Vietnam War.

He later joined the United States Navy and retired in 1991, as Chief Petty Officer with a combined total of 23 years of service.


He then worked for Lockheed Martin for 14 years before retiring in Conway, SC. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 57 in Conway.

Clarence was born March 5, 1943 in Edgerton, Ohio, the son of George K. and Mary I. (Horvath) Hartley. He was a 1961 graduate of Edgerton High School.

He married Edna Rose (Speicher) Hartley on October 16, 1963, and she preceded him in death on May 13, 2003. He later married Jean (Stewart) Hartley on February 12, 2005 and she preceded him in death on April 20, 2018.


Survivors include three children; son, Thomas E. (Michelle) Hartley, of Oxford, PA; daughter, Amy (Scott) Bouley, of Jacksonville, FL; and son, Michael K. Hartley, of Conway, SC; two grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and a sister-in-law, Barbara Hartley.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wives; brother, William (Regina) Hartley; sister, Mary (Paul) Fry; sister, Elizabeth (Robert) Guylas and brother, Richard Hartley.

Services for Clarence M. Hartley will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at St, Mary Catholic Church in Edgerton with Reverend Daniel Borgelt officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Edgerton with graveside military rites provided by the Bryan American Legion/VFW Honor Detail and the US Navy Honor Guard. Visitation will be held Monday, July 22, 2024 from 4:00-6:00 P.M. at Krill Funeral Home, 114 East Hull Street, Edgerton, OH
