Donald Waldron (1932 – 2025)

Donald L. Waldron, 93 of Montpelier, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at his home. He was born on June 27, 1932 in Montpelier to Everett and Myrtle (Stantz) Waldron.

Don graduated from Montpelier High School and honorably served his country in the United States Air Force as a Sargent during the Korean War, where he was a hydraulic mechanic in the F86 Division stationed in Duluth, Minnesota. On April 12, 1953 he married the love of his life, Janet Baxter, at St. Paul’s Methodist Church in Montpelier.

Don worked as a quality control foreman for Mohawk Tools in Montpelier and NEMCO Medical in Hicksville before retiring.

He was a member at St. Paul’s Methodist Church in Montpelier and Vamo United Methodist Church in Sarasota, Florida and was active within the church communities by teaching Sunday school and being a part of the United Methodist Men’s group. Don was also proud to have been part of the Montpelier Village Council for 8 years.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Janet Waldron; three children, Connie (James) Dye-Hutchinson, Debbie Hamrick and Dan (Barb) Waldron; 11 grandchildren, Jeremy (Jill) Clinger, Charity (Mike) Avina, Nicki (Nate) Garza, Chris Miller, Lisa (Brian Allen) Miller, Sarah (Jason) Terlosky, Rick (Mary) Miller, Jessica (Dave) Sharps, Trent (Jen Shedden) Waldron, Kirby (Alexis) Waldron and Treg (Heather) Waldron; 17 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; sister, Gerry Newbauer; sister-in-law, Phyllis Waldron; and brother-in-law, Duane Baxter.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; two sons-in-law, Jerry Dye and Gary Hamrick, Sr.; great grandson, Eathon Miller; brother, DeWayne Waldron; and brother-in-law, Larry Newbauer.

A time to receive friends will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 from 5-7 pm at the Thompson Funeral Home on Main Street in Montpelier. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at 10:30 am at St. Paul’s Methodist Church in Montpelier with Pastor Kevin Doseck to officiate. Interment to follow at West Buffalo Cemetery in Blakeslee. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Helping Hands Food Pantry or LifeWise Academy Montpelier.
