The Fayette Local Board of Education met for its regular session on Monday, March 9, 2026, with the meeting called to order at 7 p.m. by the board president.

Members present included Katie Link, Mat Johnson, and Tiffany Johnston, with one member absent. Also in attendance were the superintendent, treasurer, and Fulton County Auditor Brett Kolb.

During public participation, Kolb addressed the board regarding future property tax considerations impacting both the school district and the surrounding community, providing insight into projected financial implications.

Administrative reports followed, beginning with the superintendent, who outlined efforts to secure grant funding through the Ohio Attorney General’s office.

The application seeks to support school safety initiatives, including professional development for the School Resource Officer and enhancements to the district’s emergency management system.

The treasurer reported on tax rates for the upcoming fiscal year and ongoing work related to threshold cost reimbursement for special education expenses.

The district has also received its first PILOT payment from the Arche Solar Field, providing an additional revenue source.

The High School Principal highlighted student achievements and upcoming events.

Four students were inducted into the National Honor Society, while several FFA members earned recognition, including state degree recipients and national-level applicants.

The FFA program also reported strong participation during National FFA Week and continued success in livestock judging competitions.

Winter sports concluded with the boys’ basketball team finishing its season with a record of 5–19, showing competitiveness throughout the year.

In financial action, the board approved the February 2026 financial report, accepted a $500 anonymous donation designated for archery activities, and adopted tax rates effective July 1, 2026.

The board also approved students to attend the State FFA Convention scheduled for April 30 through May 1, a custodial contract, authorization of family medical leave for a staff member, and the acceptance of the retirement of the high school principal effective July 31, 2026.

Additionally, the board approved the updated substitute teacher and paraprofessional list for the fiscal year.

With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 8:46 p.m. The next regular meeting will be held on Monday, April 20, 2026, at 6:30 p.m.
