Charles “Charlie” R. Green, age 74, of Delta, passed away after a valiant battle against COVID-19 early Thursday morning, February 11, 2021 at Laurels of Defiance. He was born in Toledo on October 4, 1946 to the late John E. Green and Joyce (Burbridge) Green.
Charlie graduated from Anthony Wayne High School and later attended vocational colleges to further his trade in tool and die. Before retiring, he served 30 years as a tool maker and silk screen operator with Libbey-Owens-Ford; later called Pilkington Glass.
On December 6, 1969 he married Danette L. Blaine and together shared 51 loving years and were blessed with three children; Kelly, Jessica and Charles Jr. Early in his life Charlie enjoyed fishing and motorcycles. Later, he liked to watch television and always loved campfires with his family and neighbors. Charlie most of all lived for his family of which he truly adored.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Charles R. “Chuck” Green Jr.; sister, Judy Green and brother, John E. Green.
Left to cherish his memories is his wife, Danette; daughters, Kelly J. Cox of Delta and Jessica (Tracy) Smith of Wauseon; brothers, Jerry (Nora) Green and Jimmy (Connie) Green both of Oklahoma; sister, Jill (Beau) Colston of Oklahoma; uncle, Ralph (Anne) Burbridge; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren and Jack Russell Terriers, “LuLu” and “Charlie”.
In honoring his wishes, there will be no public visitation or services. Those planning an expression of sympathy may make memorial contributions to the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St. Hwy. 109 in Delta.
