The Chesterfield Township Trustees held its meeting on Monday, March 16, 2026, at 7:10 p.m., with much of the discussion centered on road maintenance, drainage concerns, and upcoming infrastructure-related decisions.

Trustees also discussed the Ohio sign safety program and the training modules tied to a township sign grant opportunity, including the possible replacement of older road signs.

Roadwork was a major topic during the meeting, with trustees discussing the condition of County Road 14, north of County Road 20, toward County Road RS, noting that the stretch sees heavy truck traffic connected to the dairy farm and requires regular upkeep.

The board also discussed future Ohio Public Works Commission planning and the need for a resolution by the May deadline if the township chooses to pursue a project.

In addition, trustees reviewed plans tied to a separate project on County Road 15-1, involving widening, reclamation, and a cold mix overlay from County Road ST to State Route 120, and agreed to approve the plans, certify that the necessary right of way is available, and maintain the project.

Trustees also turned their attention to drainage and storm damage issues on County Road 14, through the area referred to during the meeting as the swamp.

After discussion, the board decided on a list of three people to contact regarding ditch maintenance and repairs tied to washout from recent heavy rain.

In other business, the trustees approved the minutes from the previous meeting and approved payment of bills.

They also addressed a bill from ABCO that included a freight charge even though the blade in question was reportedly picked up rather than delivered.

The board indicated an email would be sent to question that charge. Trustees also signed a letter related to a cybersecurity software switch after learning specific wording was required for the change.

Additional discussion included letters sent to vendors seeking donations for an upcoming fish fry, the annual Health District Advisory Council meeting, a flyer from Brett Kolb that was posted in the township office, and review of the sheriff’s report.

Trustees also noted that Barber, Kaper, Stamm was working on a lot split matter involving the property where the old school building was located.
