Helen Irene Childers, age 94, of Delta, passed away peacefully at Otterbein of Monclova, surrounded by her family in the early morning of Wednesday, November 27, 2024.
A 1948 graduate of Bryan High School, she married Robert J. Childers in 1953, sharing 54 years together until his passing on November 28, 2007.
They owned Childers Insurance in Waterville, Ohio, faithfully serving their clients for 26 years. Helen was a true fan of THE Ohio State Buckeye Football and Basketball teams.
She volunteered as an active member of St. Caspar Catholic Church in Wauseon and Post 373 American Legion Auxiliary in Delta.
Helen is survived by her children, Christine (Christopher) Schaefer of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Rex (Amy) Childers of Waterville, Angie (Steve) Behnfeldt of Pettisville, Michelle (Mark) Frankforther of Grand Rapids, Ohio, and Kimberly (Rob) Harder of Gainesville, Florida; eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and many loving friends.
In addition to Robert, Helen was preceded in death by her grandson Jacob Childers, her brother Bernard Cupp, and sisters Wanda Sullivan and Madonna Sigg.
Friends may call from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday, December 2, 2024 at Barnes Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 5825 State Hwy 109 in Delta. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at St. Caspar Catholic Church, 1205 N. Shoop Ave., Wauseon, Ohio 43567 with Father Todd Dominique officiating. Interment will follow at St. Caspar Cemetery in Wauseon.
