James E. Lucas, formerly of Fayette, Ohio passed away peacefully at his home on his 75th birthday, October 12, 2023.
Jim grew up in Fayette, Ohio and was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Audrey Lucas of Fayette, Ohio. Also, two sisters, Lois (Bill) Hill, and Vera (Harold) Hopkins, and one brother, Bobby Lucas.
Always involved in sports, he also loved golf, fishing, music, and fast cars.
He was a resident of Bryan, Ohio and enjoyed traveling to the Upper Peninsula during the summer with his beloved wife of 25 years, Maragaret Lucas, who survives.
They enjoyed going to casinos, playing cards with friends, and watching the ships go through the locks at Sault Ste. Marie. He held the record for the biggest pike caught in Lake Millecoquins for several years.
He retired from ODOT in 2006 and remained friends with coworkers all of his life.
Along with his wife Margaret, he is survived by a son Brian Lucas of Texas, a daughter Sherri of Arkansas, a son Mark (Kylie) Lucas of Fayette, Ohio and a son Jared Lucas of Bryan, Ohio, two grandchildren and one great grandchild. Also, a brother Don (Linda) Lucas of Fayette, a sister Eloise (Melvin) Wyse of Fayette, and a sister Martha Cochran of Conway, SC.
A private Celebration of Life was held on October 18, 2023. Many cherished memories and funny stories were shared, and the common theme was “he was such a good, nice person”, who will be greatly missed.
