Mary Lou Funk Neumann, educator and devout Christian, passed away on Oct. 22, 2023, in Ocala, Florida. She was 91 years of age.
Mary Lou was born to Donald and Doris (Bernath) Funk in 1931 at Wauseon, Ohio. After graduation from Fayette (Ohio) High School, she attended Huntington College in Indiana, now Huntington University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in 1953.
After graduation she worked as an editor of United Brethren publications and then as an elementary teacher for Huntington County public schools.
On her retirement in 1992, Mary Lou moved to Arizona, where she met Caesar Neumann, whom she married in 2005 in Sun City. Caesar passed away in 2017.
Mary Lou is survived by brother, Roger; by niece, Mary Lower; and nephews, Michael (Cindy) Funk, Mitchell (Kelly) Funk, Steven (Joyce) Funk, Thomas (Kathy) Funk and Richard Funk; by stepdaughter, Marita Lichtenstein and stepson Ulrich Neumann; and by numerous great nieces and nephews.
Her brothers, Jay (Betty) and John (Anna), passed away before her.
Her remains will be cremated. A private graveside memorial service will be held for the family at the Wauseon cemetery.
