Lawrence Lineberger (1936-2020)

Lawrence L. Lineberger, age 84, of Edgerton, Ohio, passed away at 3:25 A.M. on Tuesday, August 25, 2020, at SKLD Health Care Center in Bryan, Ohio, where he was a resident. Mr. Lineberger was a graduate of Libby High School in Toledo, Ohio, and a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving from 1954-1963.

He served on the Edgerton Police Department from 1978-1983, served as a road deputy with the Defiance County Sheriff’s office for two years, and returned to the Edgerton Police Department, where he was chief from 1983-1988. He then went to work for  Metaldyne in Edon, Ohio, for ten years, retiring in 1998.

Larry was an avid golfer and was a member of Suburban Golf Club and was also member of Bryan Eagle’s Aerie #2233 and John D. Smith Post #10 of the American Legion in Edgerton.

Lawrence L. Lineberger was born on January 14, 1936, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the son of Lawrence L. and Edith (Bandi) Lineberger, Sr.  He married Kathy D. Krill on October 20, 1973, in Edgerton and she survives.

Surviving in addition to his wife are one daughter, Lynda Lineberger, of Johnsonburg, Pennsylvania, and one granddaughter.  He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Lawrence David Lineberger; and two sisters, Joyce Weaver and Ethyle Snyder.

Due to the pandemic, a private graveside service will be held in Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton, with graveside military rites conducted by Edgerton American Legion John D. Smith Post #10 and the United States Navy Air Force Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions are requested to a humane society of the donor’s choice.
