Josefina G. Perez, lovingly known as “Josie” or “Josephine,” age 68 of Wauseon, Ohio, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at the Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Sylvania.
She was born on March 19, 1956 in Hondo, Texas, to the late Pablo and Felicita (Garcia) Perez. She worked at Beam Stream for several years and then became a homemaker.
Mom’s family was most important to her. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her significant other Noe.
Mom enjoyed shopping, nature walks, bird watching, cooking, baking, sending her daily texts, and calling her loved ones.
Mom fought a good fight and showed us that she was a true warrior. Mom had a heart of gold, the love she shared with everyone will continue to shine through us.
She is survived by her significant other of 15 years, Noe Villarreal; children: Elizabeth (Martin) Shannon, Leo Suarez, Hope Suarez, and Joe Suarez; grandchildren: Justice (Brandon) Vasquez, Malik Goins, Jasmine Shannon, Tyrese Goins, Jadelin Shannon, Martin Shannon Jr, Mitchell Shannon, Mateo Black and Brantlee Willoughby; step-grandchildren: Sierra Reynolds and Staci Whetro; 10 great-grandchildren and one on the way; siblings Adam (Romalee) Perez, Pablo (Carlota) Perez, Ernie Perez, Jane (Gary) Martin, and David Perez, an abundance of nieces, nephews, and her best friends Olga Ferrell, Mary Wisecup, and Michelle Dine.
She was proceeded in death by her parents Pablo and Felicita Perez, sister: Eva (Abraham) Canales, brother: Joe Angel Perez, grandson: Ethan James Mumford; nephews: Victor Perez Juanito Suarez; nieces: Ninfa Perez, Rachel Perez, Irene Suarez, and Erica Delgado.
Visitation will be from 2-3:30 pm with her Funeral Service beginning at 3:30 pm on Sunday, January 19th, 2025 at the Lockport Mennonite Church located at 9269 County Road 21N, Stryker. A meal will be served after the service. Burial will take place at 11am on Monday, January 20th, 2025 at Oakwood Cemetery located at 104 Chase St, Stryker.
