Mary Louise Blake, 84, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 29, 2016 in her home. She was born on September 9, 1931 in Maumee, Ohio to Russell and Ethel (Green) Mason. On November 19, 1949, she married her high school sweetheart, James H. Blake. He passed away on April 23, 1999 just a few months before their 50th wedding anniversary.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She and Jim enjoyed traveling with the Coachman Club and spent many years at their cottage on Nettle Lake. Mary enjoyed playing cards with her friends for several years. She dedicated many years to help care for her grandchildren. She was a member of Faithful Temple #250 Pythian Sisters and former member of the Swanton Fire Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by her children, Kathy Blake, Ken (Delia) Blake, Bob Blake, Bruce (Diane) Blake and Janet (Whitey) Taylor; grandchildren, Jamie Blake, Lesley (Trent) McRitchie, Chris (Madalyn) Blake, Erin (John) Bennett, Rick Shipman, Joshua (Jenny) Blake, Christy (Wella) Johnson, Melanie (Doug Nelson) Blake, Ben Blake, Xavier Taylor and Miranda (Ben Ellsworth) Taylor; great-grandchildren, Brieanna and Manny Johnson, Harley and Kassandra Blake, and Evelyn Blake; as well as her brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Mary Ellen Mason and many nieces and nephews.
Per Mary’s wishes, she has donated her body to UTMC. A memorial service will be held Sunday, August 21st at 4:00 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church-Fellowship Hall, 210 N. Main St. in Swanton.
