(September 22nd, 2014)-DELTA: Traveling to Delta, the Lady Blackbird Junior High Teams saw split results. The younger incarnation of the squad dominated the Panthers, as the Seventh Grade Team claimed victory in straight set. For the Eighth Graders, however, the match was a duel with the girls from Delta, with Pettisville losing in the final set.
The Seventh Grade match was never in doubt. The Blackbirds took control early into game 1 and never looked back. They took down the first set 25-10. Game 2 went about the same, and Pettisville won the set 25-11.
For the Eighth Grade girls, the Lady Blackbirds were evenly matched with the home town Panthers. It was the visiting team, however, who claimed the first set 25-23. Delta would come back in game 2, though, as the Pettisville girls dropped the set 17-25. With a third game forced, both sides knew they were in for a struggle. The set did not disappoint, and was a back and forth affair. In the end the Lady Blackbirds couldn’t pull out the road victory, losing game 3 20-25.
