Richard Alvin Neill, 77, of West Unity, died Monday evening, August 24, 2015 at Defiance Inpatient Hospice Center. He was born March 10, 1938 in Morenci, MI to the late Alvin and Emma (DeWulf) Neill. He married Nan J.( Conner) Allen on July 2, 1994 in West Unity, OH and she survives.
Richard loved his dogs, woodworking and being in the woods, he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. He worked for Hayes-Albion Manufacturing (1959-1980), where he was a union officer. He also was a truck driver for Gieger Transportation (1980-1993) and Dave’s Sand and Stone (1993-2011) where he retired. Richard served in the US Army from 1956-1959.
Surviving are three sons, Paul (Christy) Neill of Xenia, OH, Richard (Jeannette) Neill of Hanover, MI and Kent (Gayle) Collins of West Unity, three daughters, Julie Westrick of West Unity, Rhonda (Bruce) VanArsdalen of West Unity and Tammi (Ryan) Coy of Las Vegas, NV, one sister Patricia Samlow of West Unity and eighteen grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a baby granddaughter.
