Richard “Dick” G. Showman Sr., age 70, of Swanton, passed away under hospice care at St. Luke’s Hospital in Maumee early Friday morning, September 23, 2022.
He was born in Toledo on March 21, 1952 to the late Clarence Taft and Dorothy (Meyer) Taft. Dick graduated from Swanton High School in 1971.
On September 26, 1970 he married Carol L. Fennell and she survives. Before retiring, Dick was a high lift operator in the freezer with Seaway Foodtown and a member of Teamsters Local #20.
He enjoyed going on cruises, visiting flea markets, trips to Florida, visiting casinos, gambling; especially scratch off tickets, blackjack and Texas Hold’em, camping and spending time with his family.
Along with his wife of 52 years, Carol L. Showman, he is survived by his children, Connie (James) Lillich, Richard (Beth) Showman Jr., Pamela (Timothy) Durfey and Mandy (Michael) Stumbo; siblings, Clarence Taft Jr, Carlton Taft, Charles (Cathy) Taft, Phyllis (Ed) Ray and Donald Wise; 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by Deborah Showman, Louise Taft, Virginia Wise, Calvin Taft, Paula Taft and Donna Taft.
In honoring his wishes cremation will be cared for by Barnes Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 5825 St Hwy 109 in Delta. Services will be private for the family.
