Wauseon Lady Indians Rewrite The Record Book In Winning The Walker/Dilbone Relays

May 6, 2014Updated:December 31, 2020No Comments3 Mins Read

ARCHBOLD: May 2 – Hosted by a potent home team and featuring a total of four NWOAL squads, the Archbold Walker/Dilbone Relays featured tough competition all around. Of the seven teams present though, there were none better than the eventual 2014 champions, the Wauseon Lady Indians.

The Lady Indians dominated the event with a combination of team strength and overall postseason-ready talent, finishing with 110 points, 20 points better than the runners up from Bowling Green, and 33.5 points better than the closest NWOAL competition, the third place Lady Streaks of Archbold.

The Lady Indians not only won the event, they broke a meet record in the process. The seven year old record of Anthony Wayne in the 1600 Sprint Medleys went by the wayside, and now bears the name of Wauseon. The team of Halen Mealer, Haley Archibeque, Seneca Wyse and Taylor Vernot placed first with a record time of 4:18.90, shattering the previously longstanding record by 6.1 seconds. Being that the oldest members of the team are juniors, they have a chance of eclipsing their own record when the event reconvenes in 2015…not a pleasant outlook for the competition.

The following Wauseon finishes were posted by event…
