Mary Elizabeth “Bette” Calvert was a beloved sister, mother, grandmother, and wife during her 85 years of life.
She passed away peacefully in the early hours of Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at her home in Clearwater, Florida.
She was born May 15, 1938, in Morristown, New Jersey, the daughter of John and Loretta (Durkin) Clow.
She moved to Archbold, Ohio, in 1971, and taught school at Four County Career Center for 25 years before retiring and traveling extensively with her husband, Richard Calvert.
She delighted in her children and grandchildren and was known for collecting angels and singing to her family members on their birthday.
She is survived by her sisters Joan Clow of Clearwater, FL, and Pat Ladd of Brockville, Canada; her three children, Jacqueline Todd of Clearwater, FL; John (Jody) Todd of Bradenton, FL; and Greg (Kathy) Todd of Goshen, IN; and her nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Calvert, in 2016.
A viewing will be held on Friday, June 16, from 4:00–7:00 p.m. at Short Funeral Home in Archbold, Ohio. Services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Christian Church with Pastor Erich Christman officiating. A light dinner at the church will be held after the interment in the Archbold Cemetery.
